Do you guys think the turmoil this weekend will affect rate decision on Thuesday - I made a mistake same time last year betting they wouldn't lower and that cost me a lot of money, so I'm sitting on my hands this time
A rate cut is now useless; that game's true effectiveness wore out last year. There's a good chance we get one, but it's game over for these banks IMO. They have delayed and delayed, pumped and pumped, spun stories and lied...tonight will be very telling to see what becomes of LEH and how it starts the big unwind.
Honestly, if we get a rate cut, maybe there's a little pop...I just don't see it having any real impact (no longer than a week or two out at best).
JMHO. I'm leaning more towards a crash this fall - seriously.

Bear I'm heavy into SRS and SKF too if it helps - Bernanke said several times that housing is the worst concern at the moment, but I don't really trust that guy :)
Best advice I can give at rate decision time is to wait it out till at least after 2:15 and even till Wednesday as the OPPOSITE of what SHOULD happen usually plats out!!!!

That's exactly right Joe! There is always a HUGE headfake at rate cut time!
