If anyone wants to know what is going on, the answer is no one knows what is going on with this one. The models are not handling the situation very well at all, especially with the second tropical in the Atlantic.
My forecast is what it was yesterday...border of TX and LA. I dont think it will hit anywhere east of central LA.
I'm just betting on that reeeeeally warm Gulf water firing that thing up to a Cat 3 or better...in which case, something gets disrupted!
How sweet would it be (pardon the indifference to the residents of the Gulf coast) if Monday, labor day, this thing grows to a cat 4 and Tues starts bustin pipelines and rigs...market is closed Mon so UNG will literally explode at the open Tues.
What do you guys think about WBD. Market seemed to overlook the increase in profit. "Wimm-Bill-Dann second-quarter profit climbs to $36.7 million 7:19a ET August 28, 2008 (MarketWatch) NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods said Thursday its first-half profit totaled $78.6 million, or $1.79 a share, from $65.8 million, or $1.50 a share, in the same quarter a year before. On a quarterly basis, the Russian dairy and juice maker's profit totaled $36.7 million, up from $33.7 million a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter was 760 million compared to $605 million in the year-ago period. For the first half, sales rose to $1.49 billion from $1.15 billion in the first six months of 2007."
Guys I think oil and gas will go up regardsless what happens with Gustav - The world needs oil and we haven't made any new findings recently, besides GPD is over 3 % so demand must go up :)
Regarding WBD I will not touch aything russian in the nearcomming future due to the turmoil with US and Europe - another reason for oil and gas to go up
It's the same with housing - Yeah we got increasing sales numbers but what price are they sold at.
A great deal of them are distressed sales - and where I come from that ain't a good sign, but I must be wrong once again at least my account tells me in big fat red numbers :)
Still think we're on the right side here, just hope that everybody else figures it out pretty soon
BTW if I was a gambler I would take a bet that Bush and Putin will cause a major spike in oil and gas prices soon - both are deploying warships in the Black sea right now. Amasing they just can't zip down and meassure who has the biggest...

We'd have a better chance of predicting the POG next year at this time to the dollar.
Unfortunately forecast models are just the best guesses.

That's my perfect storm.

I trust Russian business as far as I can throw...when my arm's in a sling.
Fish - gotta love the GDP print. Yeah...that's not a cooked number!!
